Retrieve ndOffice Log Files


The ndOffice integration will record data to log files stored on the local computer if there are any issues. Our Support staff may request these logs from you to aid in the investigation.

To retrieve log files:

  1. Go to Activity Center, click , point to Help, and then click Report a problem.


  1. In the Report a Problem dialog box, click View Logs.

This will open the Logs folder on your PC (located at C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\NetDocuments\Logs). You can also click the Go to Support button to submit a Support request. 

You can find the following logs in the Logs folder.

Description Logs
Logs exceptions that occur in ndOffice code per application/unit. Includes exceptions’ stack traces. These logs are always created and they do not depend on user’s settings.
  • EchoingClient.log
  • Extensibility.log
    Log is created when an exception occurs in the Extensibility code.

Tracing logs – log ndOffice code interfaces execution, not only exceptions. These logs include time of execution, duration, and method parameters. These logs depend on the TracingEnabled registry setting. (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\NetVoyage\NetDocuments). The default value is set to False. Users need to modify it to True.

  • EchoingClientTrace.log
  • %OfficeApp%AddIn.log (WordAddin.log, ExcelAddin.log, PowerPointAddin.log, OutlookAddIn.log)
  • RESTApiTrace.log
    Logs interactions with REST API. Shows request, response, time, duration and request parameters.
  • ComApiTrace.log
    Traces COM API interfaces.
  • EchoingClientJournal.log
    Logs ndOffice start/stop/connection lost/restored activities. Also, key operations (check-in, check-out, upload) that happen when ndOffice processes document. Logs are created always.
  • ExtensibilityJournal.log Logs Extensibility method calls.
Adobe logs. Log key operations that happen when user work with Adobe products (working on documents, login/logout). Logs are always created.
