ndWeb and ndOffice - Option to Hide Top-Level / Cabinet Level Folders

In Workspace Based Cabinets, Top-Level or Cabinet Level folders need to have an option in the Cabinet Admin settings or in the Windows Registry for ND Applications to be hidden. Example - "Cabinet Inbox" is under "Folders". The "Folders" section just clutters up the user's view and the users get frustrated if they try to save to "Folders" and aren't allowed. Cabinet Level folders should be optional in ndOffice/ndWeb/ndMail, etc.

ndWeb - Only Recent Matters and Favorite Matters should show if the "Hide Cabinet Folders" option was enabled at the cabinet level:

ndOffice/ndMail - Save Dialog - Only Recent Matters and Favorite Matters should show if the "Hide Cabinet Folders" option was enabled at the cabinet level or a registry setting in ndOffice:

Thanks

  • What, you don't LOVE people saving things to "Cabinet Inbox," never to be found again?  *sigh*

I have been asking for this forever...not sure what vestigial purpose it serves(ed),  or why they can't hide it, but man does it come in (not) handy when a user tries to save directly to a workspace, and is told to save to a folder, and there's a wonderful little tree item labeled "Folders" with a handy dandy folder right there for them to save to.

    Sorry...you touched a bit of a nerve :)

    *gets off soapbox*

  • Michael Hagesfeld - Agreed. I am in the same boat. I know there are potentially other Idea Bank posts on similar issues, but I thought, why not make a new one to get this back to the top.

  • Seconded on getting rid of the Folders in a workspace-based cabinet.

However, only people with cabinet administration access should be able to see Cabinet Inbox.

  • Agreed! Especially since the Cabinet Inbox can be hidden, and the creation of folders can be restricted, so to still show 'Folders' in that scenario doesn't make sense.
