Hide Cabinet Inbox

We have a knowledge cabinet where users have V access only. Yet they can see and upload files to the Cabinet Inbox. This is most frustrating. I would like the ability to hide the Cabinet Inbox from being displayed in the navigation panel.

Based on the votes for this post, NetDocuments is considering removing the Cabinet Inbox feature.  There would be two primary parts to this change:

  1. First, existing Cabinet Inbox folders (which are found in every Cabinet) would be turned into regular top-level folders; they would not be deleted. Like any other regular folders, Cabinet Inboxes could then be removed, renamed or moved and have their ACL’s changed by the firm.
  2. Second, when new Cabinets are created, no Cabinet Inbox folder will be created.

Feel free to reach out to me DIRECTLY at msalamon@netdocuments.com if you have any feedback about this proposed change.

I absolutely agree. I would like to remove the Folders option completely when you expand the Cabinet. Or if not possible, I would like the administrators to have the ability to hide that from all users.

We do not want our users to use Cabinet Inbox. The Folders option being there will just be confusing to users. We would like our users to (1) not create folders that are directly under the Cabinet but in the appropriate workspace, and (2) not save documents in the Cabinet folders or Cabinet Inbox. When our users accidentally save document in Cabinet folders, or cabinet inbox, they cannot find it.

I agree also, voted it up previously, however this is now more important to achieve in some way as the 17.2 navigation feature makes the cabinet inbox folder far more obvious to the users.

A great first step would be to enable a cabinet level on/off flag to enable show/hide the cabinet inbox (and other folders) from the navigation panel - both in ndWeb and ndOffice.

nb. We use exclusively workspaces to store content

Yes, please remove. We provide personal and business development workspaces for our users to store non-related matter documents if needed.

Thanks

I agree with the comments here, just running through a migration to NetDocs and because this folder is available and is easy to find they are filing documents here. There should be 2 options, 1 that disables folders completely when you are using Workspaces this is not required. 2 if those that need folders provide the ability to hide the cabinet inbox.

We just went live and users found this "feature". Please permit individual firms to decide at an administrative level what can be posted/created at the root of a cabinet.

Remove.

Thanks

Is there any word on this?  I appreciate that we were able to turn off user-created folders, but I don't understand why we cannot lock down the Cabinet Inbox.  We are in a constant chasing struggle to get people NOT to use the cabinet inbox.

Getting a bit desperate for this and to prevent folders being created in a workspace based cabinet.  It's driving me and my clients crazy having folders available!

@Paul Hoffbrand - You can turn off top-level folders except for Cabinet Inbox. It is in the Cabinet Administration under Cabinet Administrators:

Thank you Michael.  I am aware of that setting however, that doesn't prevent a cabinet administrator, no matter how many times you tell them, from creating the folders or anyone putting item into the Cabinet Inbox.

With ndmail we now have a completely unnecessary additional "Folders" filing section which clogs up the user interface in Outlook:

Would be great to be able to delete all Top Level Folders from a cabinet, including the Cabinet Inbox (which we don't use) to get rid of this appendage to the cabinet folder structure.
