Full Mac Integration

We are having more users BYOD..  We have some that want to use Mac's.  It will be nice to know what other NetDocs customers out there would like full Mac integration with Safari to make it work like it does with Internet Explorer.

  • I love NetDocs (when operating Windows) and I love my MacBook Pro - but combined they are not user friendly. There is no integration between Netdocs and Word or Outlook for Mac. This has been very frustrating. I cannot wait to see a full integration.

  • ND needs to create integration with Outlook for Mac. More and people are using Macs at work. See http://www.businessinsider.com/vmware-windows-is-coming-to-an-end-2014-7.

I love ND, but the fact that I have to use a Windows computer in order to get the full functionality is not acceptable.

ND, please create FULL integration capabilities for the Mac.

  • If ND can just do a full integration with Google Apps and Exchange that will solve a lot of issues. I have been a long time Mac user and refuse to use Microsoft Outlook, it is extremely heavy, and requires a lot of resources to run.

  • How long can you ignore the fact that more & more users are switching to MacBook.

It is not acceptable that we cannot experience the same level of integration.

  • We are seeing more and more firms in our industry switch to Mac. This is long overdue.

  • OK Paul I will bite.  I would also like to see some type of additional Mac integration going forward.  Possibly something that allowed for email archiving and maybe and OSX version of ndOffice.

    Jason,

You were not very clear on what exactly you would like to see on the Mac.  We do have the ndOneClick in beta which provides similar functionality to the active X with Safari on the Mac.

  • This question is so old, and still seems like not much has been done to progress the request.

ndOffice written for mac would be ideal; at the moment I have to use TeamViewer to access my Windows workstation from my mac, because there's no practical equivalent to ndOffice for mac OS. Sure, there's ndOneClick, but that's a far cry from proper integration.

Are there even any sort of resources being dedicated to this request?

  • Cassie: there is not a plan currently to develop ndOffice for Mac.

ndSync does have a mac client (I believe we're just about to release a new version).

Quite a few customers use Parallels, but that's really not what you want to tell a Mac user.

  • ndOffice is built using the very rich and sophisticated Microsoft Visual Studio APIs that Office for Windows has had for years.  The same capabilities are not possible on Macs, and therefore not even possible to build ndOffice for the Mac. Microsoft's direction is their new add-in model which is cross platform (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android) but it is very limited and will never provide the level of integration we have with Windows.  We do have plans to develop with these new add ins by Microsoft when they can handle file events (Open and Save) and hope we can begin in 2018

Additionally, we plan to continue to enhanced ndOneClick for handling the check out/in process on Mac and ndSync is developed natively on the Mac OS X.  Also, you can use Parallels to run a Windows environment on the Mac.  We don't official support Parallels but we are aware of users working in that environment which will provide you a full ndOffice experience.

We will continue to enhanced the Mac experience as much as we can and it is a strategic interest for us to continue to improve the experience.

  • We signed up with ND years ago, and were told a Mac integration was coming. It's been more than 5 years, and still nothing. We have a number of Mac users and it is very frustrating that they cannot use ND the way Windows users can.

  • 7 years on and we're no closer to integration? Really regret recommending to my firm that we go with NetDocuments - was sold a bad bill of goods. The level of integration for macs is laughable and users are reporting that it regularly doesn't work. ndClick has been very frustrating and is not an answer for mac users.

    What a frustrating experience.
