Requirements and Setup
Use the following setup prerequisites to install the ndMail application successfully.
Supported Operating System
Windows 7, 10 (64-bit)
Microsoft Office Outlook
2013, 2016, including Microsoft Office 365 subscriptions
Version 188.8.131.5219+ (for 1.0 release)
Version 2.2.22 (for 1.1 release)
2010 SP2, 2013, 2016, Online (Office 365)
WARNING: Before installing, repairing, or uninstalling the ndMail application, you need to close Microsoft Outlook.
To Get the Download for the Client:
Once you have purchased the ndMail add-on, NetDocuments sends an email that includes the download to your organization. The install is either installed automatically to all clients or you might have to install it to your client. If you need to install it, follow the steps below.
To Install ndMail on the Client:
- Ensure the account has administrative rights before installation.
- Obtain the ndMail Install from your administrator.
- Double-click the ndMailSetup.exe, then select Next.
- In the Completed the NetDocuments ndMail Setup Wizard dialog box, select Finish.
ndMail helps you to quickly file emails to proper locations in NetDocuments. Getting started with ndMail is simple with these three easy steps.
1. File an Email
Once ndMail is installed, it automatically generates a list of predictive filing locations to save your email. Simply select a location using the check box next to the location name (you can choose more than one), and then select File.
If you do not see your desired filing location in the predictions, make sure you are looking in the correct Cabinet. Also, use the Search box or Browse button to find it. Do not worry, predictions improve the more you use ndMail.
Pro tip: If you want to make the email only accessible to yourself in NetDocuments, click the Access button, and then select Just You. Even people who have access to that filing location will not see your email.
2. "Send and File" an Email
Filing your sent items is as important as filing what you receive. When composing a message, select a filing location before sending. If needed, click Refresh to get updated results based on the details of your message.
3. Link Outlook Folders to NetDocuments
If you prefer to save emails using your existing email folders, ndMail lets you do that as well. After linking a folder, any email you move to that folder will automatically be saved to NetDocuments. To get started, simply right-click any Outlook folder and select Map Folder to ND.
Then, select your desired filing location in NetDocuments and select OK. (Be sure to complete any required profile fields marked in RED.) If you want to file emails that are already in the folder to NetDocuments, leave Copy pre-existing emails too selected. Otherwise, clear the check box. Click Link to finish. ndMail will add "(nd)" to the end of the folder name, so you can easily remember it has been linked, including mobile devices.
Pro tip: If you want to link subfolders (that have not already been mapped to NetDocuments) to the same filing location as the one you are currently setting, select Link (unmapped) subfolders too.
