Setup Prerequisites

Before installing the ndMail add-in, you must have Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime (VSTO), Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2+, ndOffice application, and all available Windows updates installed on a computer.

WARNING: Before installing, repairing, or uninstalling the ndMail application, you need to close Microsoft Outlook.

ndMail Installer Setup

Before installing the application with the .msi installer, meet all setup requirements. The ndMail .exe installer takes care of all setup prerequisites. Additionally, with the .exe setup, you can set up the ndMail Folder Mapping functionality. For more information, see ndMail Folder Mapping.  

To install the .exe:

  1. Ensure the account as administrative rights before starting the installation.
  2. Download the ndMail Installer.
  3. Double-click the .exe and click Next.
  4. In the NetDocuments Terms of Use dialog box, read the license agreement, select the I accept the terms in the Terms of Use checkbox, and click Install.
  5. In the Completed the NetDocuments ndMail Setup Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

To get the download for the client:

Once you have purchased the ndMail add-on, NetDocuments sends an email that includes the download to your organization. The install is either installed automatically to all clients or you might have to install it to your client. If you need to install it, follow the steps below.

To install ndMail on the client:

  1. Ensure the account has administrative rights before installation.
  2. Obtain the ndMail Install from your administrator.
  3. Double-click the ndMailSetup.exe, then select Next.
  4. When the NetDocuments Terms of Use dialog box appears, read the license agreement, select that you accept the terms, and select Install.
  5. Wait till setup is being completed.
  6. In the Completed the NetDocuments ndMail Setup Wizard dialog box, select Close.

To install ndMail from the command line:

  1. Right-click the cmd file, and then click Run as administrator.
  2. In the command line, navigate to the folder where the installation is located.
  3. To change the location in the command line, type cd, and then press Enter.
  4. To go back to the previous folder, type. in the command line, and then press Enter.
  5. To install from the command line, enter the following command:
    msiexec /i ndMailSetup-1.X.X.X.msi.
  6. To install ndMail silently, type msiexec /i ndMailSetup-1.0.0.X.msi /qn ALLUSERS=""'.
  7. To perform the all-user installation, add ALLUSERS=""'.

After installing ndMail, the ShowExtOutlookFeatures and PromptFileEmails registries are added with False values, or, if these registries already exist, these values are changed to False in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NetVoyage\NetDocuments hive. Thus, the following ndOffice features in Outlook will be suppressed:

  • The ND Send group (contains Send & File).
  • The Suggested Locations and Private Access button on the ND Save The ND Save button will still be there and Suggested Locations will still be in the dialog box.
  • ND COLUMN – If this value was already displayed from an earlier version, you must remove it manually.

Note: Registry changes take effect after exiting the ndOffice application.
