Continued Improvements to User Interface
In our ongoing improvements to our user's experience, this Update includes changes to the web user interface as well as new functionality.
Please make sure you refresh your browser using Ctrl+F5 to clear any old cache after the Update.
Recent Documents quick access
The ten most recently accessed documents are now displayed in a quick access list next to Recent on the Documents drop-down menu:
Customize Power Bar
Users are now able to select which document options appear on the Power Bar. At the bottom of the More menu, a new “Customize Power Bar” option is displayed:
Users can place their most commonly used features on the Power Bar by dragging them to the top or double-clicking on the option:
The Search Results page has been updated to match the functionality and interface of other List View pages.
The updated Search Results page includes the following functionality:
Endless scroll: Results will be delivered in a continuous scroll rather than in pages; additional search results will be loaded as you scroll through the results.
Power Bar: The Power Bar is now available for taking actions on the search results.
Search for Checked Out Documents
The Advanced Search page now offers the option to locate documents that are currently checked out:
The status of the document is indexed when the document is checked out or checked in. Documents that have been checked out since status indexing began (July 2017) and remain checked out will be returned in the search results.
Additional search options include the ability to narrow results by the person to whom the document is checked out, and the date the document was checked out.
In the Navigation Pane, users can now quickly access their personal emails (sent to or from them, or imported by them) for each workspace:
Recent Saved Searches
Recent Saved Searches are now displayed on the Quick Search drop-down:
The emails sent when following a folder or document have been enhanced to include more details about the trigger, information about the user who took the action, and guidance for managing the follow alert.
Workspace Aliases are now displayed in the Navigation Pane and on Matter lists.
When a parent container has been synced, all descendant containers will be shown as synced in the web interface, and a grey icon will indicate they cannot be synced separately.
Several accessibility enhancements have been made to list views and menus to enhance the integration with JAWS screen readers.
The following information is for system administrators.
Profile Attribute Setting: Dependency
Repository Administrators can now set an attribute dependency where the value of one attribute is determined by the type value of another attribute. When the value of the source attribute is changed, the dependent attribute value is automatically updated based upon the source value.
Dependent attributes cannot have a lookup table, and cannot be children of another attribute.
Restrict Password Requests
Repository Administrators can now restrict password reset requests to an IP range. This will minimize password reset requests from external sources. The setting can be found on the Advanced Authentication Configuration page:
ndFlexStore: Default Cabinet Storage Location
In repositories that have ndFlexStore enabled, administrators can now set a default ndFlexStore storage location for an entire cabinet. This setting can be found on the Cabinet Administration page:
Secured Delivery Settings
Cabinet Administrators can now configure the default setting for downloading documents through a secured delivery link:
Beta Testing Information
The Beta Testing Period for 18.1 starts 9 March 2018. See our Beta Announcement for more information.
As always during a beta test, issues may be found which may require us to adjust the actual release date of the Update.
ndOffice customers: ndOffice 2.2 will be released in Q2 2018.
Planned Updates Following 18.1
For your planning purposes, the next Update for NetDocuments (Update 18.2) is planned for Q3-2018. We will inform you if this schedule changes as we get closer to the date. We are providing this information to assist you as much as possible in your planning and administration of the NetDocuments Service for your organization.
The 18.2 release is expected to contain the following changes:
Summary View: The Summary View page will be upgraded to the new format and will be consistent with the previously-upgraded pages: Containers (workspace, folder, filter & saved search), Search Results, Recent & Favorites pages, etc.
Drag & Drop: Users will be able to drag & drop items from the desktop to Summary View, from the desktop to the Nav Pane, from Summary View to the Nav Pane, from the list view to subfolders, and dropping onto documents (add version).
Default Profile Values: Users will be able to identify default profile values for creating new document profiles.
Comparison: The integration with comparison software will be enhanced.
End of Life Information

All new or updated NetDocuments client software can be installed during the week prior to the release of 18.1 or can be installed after the Update to ensure that the most recent version is installed. (Any previous versions of these add-ins should be removed prior to updating them). You should install the latest version of the client software so that you have the most up-to-date software.
We strongly recommend that you update all client software. For current versions of all available client software, please see the Links to Client Downloads page. All available downloads and add-ins can be found under the Downloads and Integrations section.
As with all of our client software, we only support the latest version available. We strongly recommend that you download and install the latest version of each add-in client software that you are using.
Prior versions will NOT be supported and use of them may result in errors or possibly data loss in some instances. If you experience an issue with an updated version, please contact NetDocuments Support. If you are using an older version and experience issues, please understand that changes and fixes will be provided only for the most recently released version. If you encounter problems with a previous version, you will be required to update the software to resolve the issue.
If you are working with our Support team related to a bug, you can get information related to the bug's status from your Support Case. Because of this normal interaction with Support, we do not describe all of the bugs that have been fixed in an Update. You can also verify a bug fix with the new Update by accessing the beta and testing it to see whether an issue has been fixed or not. For the client software, however, we do include major changes and major bug fixes to assist you when installing and implementing the new software.
