ActiveX will not run in Internet Explorer

Updated:

NetDocuments recommends using ndClick application instead of ActiveX for better performance and functionality. See ndClick.

There are some instances where Internet Explorer 11 will not run an ActiveX script. This can be tested by going to the site www.activextest.com. If you receive a message indicating you are using Chrome or Firefox, then an ActiveX will not be able to run.

There are settings within IE which can cause this. The most common are:

  • Enhanced Protected Mode

  • ActiveX Filtering

  • Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting
