List of Error Codes and Solutions

Below is a list of commonly-encountered error messages and related information. The errors are sorted by number or code (if one is associated with the error message). 

Some errors will have "unknown" under the comments section. This could be because we are currently investigating it, or have had so few cases of it that we have not been able to determine a root cause.

If you encounter one of these errors, please submit a request to Support to further investigate the issue. 

If you can provide us any additional information about these errors, send that information to us and we will add it to this page for future reference.

Code Error Message/Text Comments/Solution
  This document was edited on this workstation in offline mode and was also edited on another workstation. The version edited on this workstation has been moved to
C:\Users\<username>\App Data\Local\Temp\<filename>. The official version will be opened.

Message seen when checking out/in documents.

8004010e The document was edited and checked in by another user while you were working on it, so your edits could not be stored in the repository. The document has been moved to My Documents. (Error 8004010e)  Message seen when checking out/in documents.
  Gateway Timeout. The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server.

This is due to a bad connection to a server or connecting to a bad server. A reboot will re-connect to a better server. See Error 500 or 504

  Server Error in '/neweb2' application This is a generic NetDocuments server error. Copy the entire error message and send it to Support. 
  Error opening this Workspace: Invalid workspace attribute value. Please contact your cabinet administrator for assistance.

  Unable to retrieve session data

Service issue, usually related to a search failure

 

The given key was not present in the dictionary

Array index out of bounds

OR

Index was outside the bounds of the array

Usually related to a search/index failure. Seen most commonly when deleting a workspace, profiling a document, or in EMS. Contact NetDocuments Support with the steps to reproduce and the full error message text. 

  Unable to update the profile of <document>: Index was outside the bounds of the array. 

Not known

  The document on line # will not be imported. The error is: -1 Value does not fall within the expected range. parsing .msg file

Seen when using the Mass Import Tool to import emails. Cause unknown

  !randomitem is not a valid envelope path

Not known. 

2 or 3 Error occurred while preparing to upload

Clear the Echo folder.

 5 Error 5: FindMatch exception at stage 10 (SERVICE-username) This is due to a failure during the email de-duplication search. The search may be choking on something, possibly some unusual character in the email message.
5 Unexpected error:5 - Procedure call or argument is not valid

Seen when profiling a document, opening a ShareSpace or 

15 error 15 while preparing to upload document

We've seen this when importing from a CD while using the Move option. Similar to Error 2 or 3.

70 File Rename Error 70: Permission denied OR Run time error: permission denied

This is apparently a Word bug, where Word is not properly closing the file. Re-booting the computer or trying the action again should resolve it.

75 A share violation has occurred. (Exception from HRESULT:0x80030020 (STG_E_SHAREVIOLATION))

400 The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request.

Usually seen in EMS. Is an issue with the authentication token on the machine.

404 Page not found A general HTTP status code that means that the page you were trying to reach on a website couldn't be found on their server. The page may have been removed, or you don't have access to it. 
500

500 internal service error

OR 

HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error

This is a very general HTTP status code that means something has gone wrong on the web site's server, but the server could not be more specific on what the exact problem is. Restart the browser or reboot the computer.
504   Unable to connect to server. Reboot. 
1001 Unable to get installer in the assembly. -> Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.

Use the MS Uninstall Wizard to remove the program.

 

1001 not a valid file...

Mising or misnamed ndInt.dot file (legacy integration file)
